Wednesday WIP

Check it out!!!

I’ve been playing with these babies today! Cute huh? The nursery colors are purple, lavender, and navy. I have to say it was an interesting palate to hear and probably colors that I would not initially put together on my own, but once I started pulling fabrics I was getting really excited!

I love challenges like this! And helllooo, how adorable are the hedgies in there! I’m keeping it simple with a crazy nine patch/Stack n’ Wacky, you can find a tutorial here. As you can probably see, we didn’t end up adding a whole lot of navy in the group, but I think there is just enough. We also added the black squiggles and kei gray dots to keep with the fun and funky look! The sashing color has yet to be decided until the blocks are finished, possibly pulling a solid navy, gray, or lavender.

I tired to keep those awesome hedge hogs fussy cut so the seam allowance didn’t eat them up, turned out pretty well. The blocks are coming together beautifully and of course I have about a bajillion other color ideas running through my head right now.

All of the blocks just might be together already 😉

I’m in love with these blocks and I can’t wait to see what sashing my client decides to go with! So check back, I know you can’t wait to find out either!

Tuesday Time!

Lots of quilty fun has been going on here! A few projects for the shop, some for myself, some for bees, and some for swaps! Now I don’t know how the weather is around the rest of the world, but it is absolutely gorgeous here! Gorgeous for playing out side and amazing natural light for sewing inside! I love days like these, where I can open the windows and enjoy the outside from indoors, while playing with some of my most precious fabrics!

Speaking of precious fabrics…Have you heard of My Precious QAL that Kelly of Kelbysews is hosting? I know you guys have amazing, favorite, gorgeous, PRECIOUS fabric you’re hoarding over there! So here’s the deal, STOP BEING A HOARDER, and use it 🙂

The fabric doesn’t have to necessarily be HTF or OOP, it just has to be awesome to you and not a current line. A big group of us are creating a pact to use our fabrics in a project, it doesn’t even have to be a quilt. Just use some or all of it! Come on! It will be fun!

Here’s what I’m using!

My Precious QAL
Yuuup! That’s Heather Ross Mendocino! And yes, I’m a hoarder. I figure especially since I am going to see Heather in a few weeks that it’s time to dive in.

So I admit, I cut into these beauties, I guess about two years ago now and started on a quilt. Well only a row was accomplished. Now it’s time to finish, because I have still be afraid to use it, even after I started a row. Silly, I know.

And since I do live at the beach, I NEED an awesome, beachy quilt!
So now that you’ve seen what I’m going to be playing in, I know you want to join! It will be fun! Check it out here:
QAL
There will even be prizes from these talented folks (including me!):
Keep checking the sites for details, cause they’re some gooooood prizes! I know you want/need them! All you have to do is join in on the QAL and you’re eligible to get in on the prizes! There will be at least one drawing per month.

Now go! Run to your sewing space and dig around for the goods! We want to see them, and we want to see them made into a treasure! Hope to see you there 😉
