Rolling into the weekend

With a tremendously busy week behind me and one more, last cathedral window class to teach tomorrow in the shop I am oh so ready for a day off to relax. And here I am at 12:30 at night still working on getting a quilt quilted so I can drop it in the mail in the AM for it to begin its adventure to New Zealand! It’s always so exciting to think my quilts are floating around all over the world!

Bella has been helping me baste this evening. She always believes it is in mine and her best interest that she is in the middle of all projects! But hey, I can’t blame a girl for wanting to be in on the fun 🙂

I’ve been working on the Cape Fear Modern Quilt Guild blog which has been a fun endeavor so far. Although last night I spent a handful of hours building a blog button and grab box with NUMEROUS failures. Thank goodness after snapping at mom on the phone and a few cranky texts to friends I was finally able to rebuild the HTML code and get it to actually work. And I must say I think it turned out really cute…(you can find the button on the right hand side of the blog, the one with the mermaid). Next on my list is to get one built for this site and so many other things I’d love to get accomplished.

So Although I’m feeling an all nighter coming on I am highly looking forward to spending some time with some of my besties the remainder of the weekend.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Modern Blocks

Check out the book Modern Blocks by Susanne Woods. I’m going to be working of a handful of  blocks, I’m torn between solids and prints so I’ve been playing around with a bit of both.
Modern Block of the Month
These are the solids I’ve been checking out so far, minus the 4 purple.
I’m very excited to get this started and see how the different blocks come together. I haven’t quite decided if I’ll use a white background or gray yet, but I think I will definitely be adding a few of my favorite prints into the blocks!
This is one of the sample blocks I’ve made up, but I love it so much I feel a quilt emerging from this block!
kisses

So stay tuned!

In the works

So while I am getting all of the new goodness of Bluprint Textiles up and running, let me take some time to catch everyone up in my world.

Since I last posted A LOT has happened. I had a birthday! Big 23 now!! Oh and I got some great stuff for my birthday, to include a trip to NYC to go to fabric design classes with my FAVORITE designer Heather Ross and a Bamboo Create. Bella and I moved, we found a great new house with hardwood floors, 10 ceilings, great lighting, and awesome studio space. Of course Thanksgiving and Christmas came and went with spending some wonderful time with friends and family.

In the midst of the past few months I decided it was time to get serious with my business if I really wanted to follow my passion. This required a name change and pattern designs in the works to name a few.

I’ve gotten steadily involved in two of our local quilt guilds, one modern and one traditional. I have had the opportunity to meet so many successful individuals that are just as excited as I am for my business and that are so willing to help me. I honestly cannot thank everyone enough for taking me in and giving me unlimited guidance.

Although it’s been stressful at times and life is still happening day by day, I am so excited that everything is falling into place!
