MOVING DESTASH!!!

That’s right! I’m moving! And since the cost of living is much higher, into a smaller place.

Ill be adding lots of yummy fabrics throughout the evening and the next few days to THE SHOP. I SERIOUSLY need some of this to go, I have WAY too much to pack already and I’m planning on moving in the next two weeks.

Here is a preview of some, but def not all!

Daily Challenge

There aren’t many things that stump/scare/put me in a blur, but this is one of them:

I like to think I’m great at aqua, blue, green, red, orange, brown, yellow…or any other combination I can come up with that isn’t strictly girly. Of course I am always up to a challenge, but girly colors make me sit and think for sometimes far too long. Not to mention these are all of the pinky/purple prints I own, not much huh? At lease compared to the other various colors of the rainbow!

This is a custom quilt, a Christmas present of course and on top of that it’s for my friends madre, for him to give. Which ultimately could make or break me! Yikes, such pressure. I’m thinking a Dresden Plate Quilt, 1. Since I haven’t made one in a while and 2. Because it will keep the quilt traditional, but the prints will make it modern. I think the combination will be perfect for someone who is a little older (mother older…not OLD 😉 and doesn’t run around in the modern quilting world. Baby steps in transforming others is a must!

I’m finding these baby steps are essential in some of the guilds I am in with more traditional quilters, otherwise I give them a heart attack and they close off any possible ideals of modernism.

So off to the cutting board I go!

Blu Babe Quilt

Blu Babe Quilt

This cute quilt was made from almost all the left over scraps from the Baby Chevron Quilt, which is available for sale in my etsy shop! Pictured here:

Baby Chevron

I was a bit perplexed when I had so much fabric wastage when making the chevrons and yet I don’t usually work with scraps (most of the time they drive me nutty). Fortunately I had a great vision and the scraps were really good size (no tiny bits).

Blu Babe Quilt

I decided to make some simple, but fun floating squares on a yummy solid aqua and blue background. I just love all the blank space since the blocks themselves are pretty busy.

This quilt has really given me hope that I will successfully and productively be able to us up my TONS of scraps I have left from a plethora of projects.

Blu Babe Quilt

I haven’t made a quilt with floating blocks before, that I can recall, but I will definitely be making them more often. I think they are just so sleek and modern, not to mention absolutely adorable! I have a few more ideas up my sleeve as we speak!

Blu Babe Back

This is the first quilt in a long while that I have used one solid print on. Usually I like to piece them and make them funky, but for some reason it seemed like just the dots would do the trick. And I do have to say I am pretty darn pleased.

Blu Babe is listed here in my etsy shop so stop by and check it out!
