The pallies came for a visit this weekend, so before the tornadoes and the mambo-jambo of the weather happenings on the east coast we were able to get out on the water and do some morning paddling…after much convincing. Of course us women weren’t so sure about going out on the water, esp with kiddos, when they were predicting some pretty bad storms. Fortunately we were out and back WAY before any of the weather hit.
We paddled around in the back coves of the sound (against the wind :-x), ran into some sea-grass (a lot), and finally made it to an island where we began our real adventuring! We found lots of great shells and sharks teeth! Some of the conchs had occupants and some didn’t (so we thought). So we carried some conchs and sharks teeth back to the house with us…resting safely in a gallon ziplock bag.
Fast forward 36 hours later…
And everyone went home earlier, so I am relaxing on the couch this evening…doing a little studying when I hear a weird scratching noise coming from the dinning room area. The dinning room is currently where some of my sewing/fabric supplies live and there are boxes under the table. All I was thinking was “GREAT! There is a frapping mouse chilling out in one of those boxes, and what am I going to do with him?!”
The weird thing was that Bella was just sleeping on the foot rest, not budging at all. I went and sat down in the kitchen and waited for the unknown. And there is was! I heard it! But on top of the table?! “Great! all my fabric and other stuff is on the table!” Then I see a ziplock bag moving! Creepy… And then it hit me, FRAP! There is a conch shell with a damn crab in there! AHHHHHHHHHHH!
Now just a few hours earlier I was trying to get the kids to take this bag of shells home with them, but we decided to leave them here since we are going to see how many goodies we can find by the end of the summer.
Anyway! It really creeped me out so of course I had to call my mom and ask what to do with it since I didn’t want to touch the bag. Yes, I keep squealing every time he would pop out at me! So I trekked downstairs to find a bucket to put the poor crab in. Then low and behold, I wait until he comes out and go back and check….Yeah not one crab, but two!!!!!
I hope they like blueberries, because that’s what they got for a midnight snack. I will most definitely be letting them go in the morning with Justin!
